What a casket spray is, and who orders it
A casket spray is the large arrangement that rests on top of the casket during the visitation and service. Most of the time it comes from the immediate family, a spouse, the children or the grandchildren together. Friends and coworkers usually send something else, like a standing spray or a plant.
There are two common styles. A full couch spray covers a closed casket. A half couch spray sits on the lower half when the casket is open. The funeral director can tell you which one fits, and the florist can work from that.
Families often choose flowers that meant something to the person. A rancher might get sunflowers and wheat. A grandmother who grew roses on her porch might get roses in her colors. Tell the florist a little about who they were, and leave room for the florist's eye.
