Working with a garden venue
Muskogee Parks and Recreation rents the Papilion, home of the butterfly house and teaching gardens, for weddings and private events. The city's page says rentals include use of the facilities, a caterer's kitchen and a pre-wedding photo session, and that tables, chairs and tents come from outside vendors. See the Papilion wedding page (opens in a new tab) for current details.
A garden venue changes how you think about flowers. In April, the park is known for azaleas and tulips. Later in the year, the plantings change. Flowers that echo what is in bloom look natural in photos, and you may need fewer pieces since the setting already does a lot of work.
Outdoor weddings in Oklahoma need a weather plan. Heat can wilt delicate flowers, and wind can knock over tall pieces. Ask the florist about sturdy containers and heat-tolerant flowers, and check the National Weather Service forecast (opens in a new tab) as the date gets close.
