What the VA posts for Fort Gibson
The VA posts flower rules on the page for each national cemetery. For Fort Gibson National Cemetery, fresh cut flowers are allowed at any time, and flowers that come with the casket are placed on the grave after the burial. Artificial flowers are allowed from November 10 to April 1.
Potted plants are allowed only around Easter, from about 10 days before to 10 days after. Around Memorial Day, all flowers are allowed from the Thursday before through the first Monday in June. Christmas wreaths and grave blankets are allowed from December 1 to January 20 and should not be secured to the headstone.
Permanent plantings, statues, vigil lights, breakable items, beads and wire are not allowed. Rules can change, and other national cemeteries can differ, so always check the cemetery page on va.gov (opens in a new tab) before you go. The National Cemetery Administration (opens in a new tab) has information on all VA national cemeteries.
