Sending flowers to Porum
Porum is a small town on State Highway 2 in the southern part of Muskogee County. It was named for John Porum Davis, a rancher and Cherokee Nation councilman. Porum Gap, a natural pass through the hill just west of town, once gave cattle drives a route toward Texas.
Today Porum is a quiet town not far from Lake Eufaula and the Canadian River, with schools and churches at the center of local life. Families there often have ties to Muskogee, Warner and Stigler.
